冰雪掩盖的未知世界？

Today we are told that the documents will be mostly in Italian during our internship, and we are expected to reach that level of Italian proficiency within only 5 months!WTF! How am I gonna survive?? i am the worst student in my italian class...

It's been around two months since I was in Rome. New life has already started, quite intensive since the beginning, loads of lessons, reading materials, and exams, the only exciting things are the nice food (well, honestly, only at the start) and some new friends.

 

The Italian Companies are so hierarchically structured, I start to miss a bit the "flat" Holland. The First key words that I have learned here are to be "humble" and "you are NOT allowed" bla bla. Thirty of us Fhinkers are living together in the same hotel at central Rome, only two-minute walk from our company building. We can easily take a stroll to Viale del Corso, Fountain Trevi (my favourite place), Spanish Steps within half an hour, location, location, location! However, my Italian level is steadily progressing at a turtle speed, "si si, ciao, ciao" is the best I can do at this moment. Difficile!

 

We went for an excursion to Fuccino space centre two weeks ago, a group company "telespazio", it was quite cool to see so many gigantic satellite dishes, the work seemed to be boring though sitting in front of big screens like a couch potato, dont think i would choose this one in the future. Best of all was the manager convention last Monday in Milan, we were so under spotlight when being introduced in front of 2000 Finmeccanica managers! I will upload some pics later.

 

Time flies, Jingle bell, jingle bell, Christmas is on the way, looking forward...miss you all my friends!

 

12 days left in NL only. It seems like centuries when I look four years back. So many things happened, so many images sliding through my head. The best years of my life...What do I feel? Ummm...Sadness? Sorrow? Excitement? Hope? Complicated...I am not sure. But I am sure I will miss everything here, I will miss my friends, and I am sure I miss home and more.

It is such an unblievably super boring Friday afternoon, believe it or not, I am watching Rush Hour 3 in the restricted area of ABN AMRO test centre! Just spilled coffee on the company laptop, keyboard is not working well now...hope it lasts for one more month. Found the lost pack ofLucky Strike unexpectedly, it is inside the ATM. Meanwhile, It is such a slog to leave a place, I really can't be that diplomatic to make everybody happy... 

Happy Chinese Valentine! Special day for special one! 

It has been two weeks since I was back from “Batavia”. Though I was told to record the bits and bytes of this trip, laziness has been the excuse. If you don’t know where Batavia is, or happen to be like Miss Bridget Jones insisting lran is David Bowie's wife, you would probably need some decent education of geography. Though subscribing to National Geographic might be a good idea, I would propose a shortcut by providing you with some straight forward clue. So please take note of the world map below attached to this essay. Batavia is the capital city of the spot right at the bottom of the Microsoft Factory coloured in red, bearing the words “don’t go here”.

Got it? Yes, right there!

Don’t go? Cowards! Being born a man of bravery, I am willing to take the risk of venturing into the wild southeast. Marking my friends' motto “When in Rome, do as many Romans as you can'' deep into my mind, I stepped into the Boeing 747-400 of Royal Dutchie Airlines with my strong faith toward the land of mysteries. What a start of an epic!

Great waves make great voyages. It was not easy for us to leave the ground. There was a glitch in the fuel tank of the jumbo, oops!

“It is a small problem, only some fuel leakage,” said an air attendant gently, “please remain seated!”

Fuel leakage, small problem, FROM THE PLANE! I thought she didn’t finish the sentence “Please remain seated, AND wait to be fucked”. Anxiety lasted for 3 whole hours before we could get underway during which I almost had claustrophobia being trapped in the small cabin, but a true hero is not to be defeated before arriving at the battlefield.  

After 15 hours of trek I arrived at the tropical destination. I was completely devoured by the heat the first second I stepped out of the cabin. The airport was not air conditioned. However, I do take it as a positive attitude for the Indonesians already had a firm grip of the idea of environment protection in their mind by not using harmful electronic equipment like air conditioners. We Chinese really have to work hard to catch up.

Being a Chinese passport holder, I have enjoyed the privilege of Visa-on-arrival. It took me only two hours to pass the passport control. Hey, mates, my respect!

Out of the immigration, the last barrier stopping me from seeing the palm trees was only the luggage pickup. When I had passed the checks, there were not many passengers left in the luggage hall. As a result, I had drawn tremendous attention from the management staff working there. Everybody that I had met was trying to help me to locate my luggage, though opposite directions were pointed out, I still appreciated the Indonesian hospitality.

Finally, the palm trees and bikinis are looming up in front of me...

Tip: If the luggage you are carrying has exceeded the limit for not declaring your goods at the custom, tip a trolley boy and he will help you    sail through without passing the X-ray! They accept all currencies, from euro to saudi riyal.

I never thought that I could have anything published...

It is quite a surprise to know part of my Master thesis will be published in a book...

A satisfaction of my personal vanity... 

Though maybe not many ppl will read that book....Not even myself...
